    Yes, that is correct. 

    If you would like to run a metal magazine you will need to modify the magazine to match the flat bottom of the design of the Howa. No feed ramp modification is needed. Our current polymer magazines hold ten rounds.

    Hello Robert,

     

    The chassis does not include a mag as we do not know what caliber the rifle being inserted is going to be, and we don't want to include something that you might not be able to use.

     

    Yes, the poly mags work great for the Howa as do the Poly/Metal mags offered by MDT.  If you are going to use metal mags, the binder plate mags will work, but you would have to flatten down the front of the mag a little with a file or grinder until they seat, the metal mags are the original AICS pattern designed to seat against the round 700 action.  If you seat the metal mag with the bolt open, you can see how much of the feed ramp covers the mag and that is how far back you need to take down to.

     

    The current Gen2 poly mag fits 10 rounds, the Gen1 is 8.
